*This one is very personal to me because I was in a place where I was literally surrounded by people who wanted to do me harm. I was very scared and I didn’t know at that time that God was with me. I kept seeing different versions of “Faith not fear” everywhere I went. It was on the sign outside the Christian church I live near, I heard it in movies, etc. Then my nephew, who was sent to Salt Lake City on his mission, instead of Spain because of Covid, shows up in my doorstep with a message for me…
Ether 12:6 And now, I, Moroni, would speak somewhat concerning these things; I would show unto the world that faith is things which are hoped for and not seen; wherefore, dispute not because ye see not, for ye receive no witness until after the trial of your faith.
God is with me and miracles happen all of the time. I was instructed to do exactly this- “Fear ye not, stand still, and see the salvation of the Lord,”
Exodus 14:13-14
Question
How do Moses’ and President Uchtdorf’s words inspire you to choose faith, instead of fear, during difficult times?
Scripture
13 And Moses said unto the people, Fear ye not, stand still, and see the salvation of the Lord, which he will shew to you to day: for the Egyptians whom ye have seen to day, ye shall see them again no more for ever.
14 The Lord shall fight for you, and ye shall hold your peace.
Exodus 14:13-14
Quote
We are…not ignorant of the challenges of the world, nor are we unaware of the difficulties of our times. But this does not mean that we should burden ourselves or others with constant fear. Rather than dwelling on the immensity of our challenges, would it not be better to focus on the infinite greatness, goodness, and absolute power of our God, trusting Him and preparing with a joyful heart for the return of Jesus the Christ?
As His covenant people, we need not be paralyzed by fear because bad things might happen. Instead, we can move forward with faith, courage, determination, and trust in God as we approach the challenges and opportunities ahead.
We do not walk the path of discipleship alone. “The Lord thy God … doth go with thee; he will not fail thee, nor forsake thee.”
“The Lord will fight for you, and you shall hold your peace.”
President Dieter F. Uchtdorf
